Poll gives Carter huge lead
NZPA-Reuter Manchester, New Hampshire President Carter commands an enormous lead over Senator Edward Kennedy only two days before New Hampshire’s important presidential primary' election, according to an opinion poll published at the weekend. The “Boston Globe” newspaper said 55 per cent of those questioned favoured Mr Carter and just. 30 per cent supported Mr Kennedy, Senator Kennedy comes from the neighbouring state of Massachusetts and a defeat in the primary in his own backyard would be a severe blow, although he has said that he would continue with his campaign even if he lost. Among the Republican Party • presidential contenders, the poll gave George Bush, a former Congressman and for- a short time director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a onepoint lead over the former California Governor, Ronald Reagan.
