Olympic nominations
PA Auckland lan Ferguson (North Shore), Alan Thompson (Gisborne) and Geoff Walker (Garden City, Christchurch) have been nominated as the New Zealand canoeists for the Moscow Olympic Games. The national canoeing selectors, Messrs Sandy Pigott, Evan Stubbs and Bernard Fletcher, have also nominated Mr Russ
Hawken (Wellington) as manager . and Mr John Grant (Gisborne) as coach. , A feature of the nominations is the omission of the 20-year-old North Shore paddler. Paul MacDonald. Without MacDonald, who partnered Ferguson' to wins in.both the 500 metres and 1000 metres double kayak events, , there will be no proven pairs combination. ; ,
