Climber’s body found
PA Dunedin The body of a man last seen on Mount Aspiring on January 18 was recovered from the base of the west ridge of the mountain yesterday. He was Ralph Francis Larkins, aged 23, a teacher, of Dunedin. Mr Larkin’s body was «een by Mr Tim Wallis, of Alpine Helicopters, when
he flew over the area on Saturday. Constable G. Pierson, of the Wanaka police, and a local mountaineering instructor went in to recover the body, which was beneath a big rock at the base of the west ridge in an area where snow has recently thawed. An unsuccessful search was made for Mr Larkins’s companion, Mr Arch Wilson, also of Dunedin.
