Support for Mr Grigg
The North Canterbury Hospital Board’s medical services committee has passed a vote of confidence in -the board’s chairman (Mr T. C. Grigg).
The committee dissociated itself from any call for Mr Grigg’s resignation. A cardiologist at the Princess Margaret Hospital (Dr F. T. L. Hull last week called on Mr Grigg to resign over the Government’s decision to set up a cardiac surgery centre in Dunedin, rather than in Christchurch.
“This committee expresses confidence in the chairman, members and senior administrative staff of the board and the manner in which representations have been made to the Government for •‘.he establishment of a cardiac surgical unit in Christchurch,” said the board’s acting medical superinten-dent-in-chief (Dr D. A. Andrews) on behalf of the committee.
