Soccer M. United still in the hunt
NZPA-Reuter London Although the other 20 first division clubs may have given up the chase Manchester United has not yet conceded the English league soccer championship to Liverpool. United, three points behind the leader with one game more played before Saturday’s matches, delighted its fans at Old Trafford with a scintillating win, 4-0. over Bristol City. Joe Jordan, Sammy McElroy, and an own goal by Geoff Merrick put United three up at the interval and after the break Jordan completed a fine performance with a second goal. Livepool, meanwhile, did not find goals so easy to come by at home to Ipswich, unbeaten in its last 14 matches and in third place, five points from the top. The amazing David Fairclough put Liverpool ahead in the eighth minute with his seventh goal in five matches, but Liverpool could not. find a way past the goal-keeper, Paul Cooper, again and Ipswich thoroughly merited the 1.-1 draw.
