Opossum skins in demand
PA Dunedin A large bench of buyers bid with animation at the fifth opossum skin sale of the 1979-80 season, with a total offering of 27,344 skins held in Dunedin.
The top price realised was $25.42 compared with $22.67 at the December sale.
Prices realised in the main grades were:— Grade one.—Large: Red brown, $21.15; dark brown, $25.42; red neck, $15.30; pale, $14.95; grey, $18.75. Medium-large: Dark, $18.15; pale, $10; grey, $9.97. Medium: Dark, $10.02; light, 56.83. Grade two.—Large: Red brown, $20.85; dark brown, $23.33; red neck. $11.48: pale, $13.45; grey, 515.45. Medium-large: Dark, $13.96; red neck, $8.48: .pale, $8.39; grey, $8.40. Medium: Dark, $8.07; light, $6.32. Small: Dark, $4.22; light, $3.23. Grade three.—Large: Red brown, $13.92: dark brown, $17.08; red neck, $8.14: pale, $9.15; grey, $10.15. Mediumlarge: Dark- $10.92; red neck, $6.43; pale. $8.95; grey, $6.98. Grade four.—Fourths: Dark, $3.81; light, $438.
