Imported fuel cost double
PA Wellington The cost of imported fuel orders has almost -doubled in the last 12 months, a survey by the Government Statistician has shown. The survey of overseas Orders and payments for December* 1979, show that mineral fuel orders for the six months ended December totalled $562 million.
i The comparative figure for 1 the six months to December I 31, 1978, was $282.7 million. The total ebst of overseas ■ orders, excluding mineral fuels, totalled $l4l million ; in December, 1979, 26 per ■ cent less than the $190.5 : million placed in November of the same year. • The fall in orders was attributed to abnormal
movements in orders placed by a number of firms and to seasonal influences. The projected payments for private imports, based on the orders and payments survey, indicate that payments will average $344 million per month from January to March, and $349 million from April to June, of this year.
