Mellseur-Yipp’s Secret for Otago double

Mellseur and Yipp’s Secret will be a formidable combination for the Otago Racing Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow.

Mellseur, a newcomer at the meeting, will run in the $lO,OOO White Robe Lodge Stakes, and Yipp’s Secret is pointed for the Penfolds Handicap.

Mellseur will be embarked on a wide-ranging programme if she comes up to expectations in the first leg of tomorrow’s T.A.B. double.

With wins at weight-for-age in the Thames Valiev Stakes, the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes, and the Aluminium

Smelter Stakes this season she has shown qualities that will make her respected in any company. If all goes well for her in her autumn racing Mellseur will probably tilt at valuable Queensland races including the Brisbane Cup this winter. Mellseur goes into tomorrow’s race I.skg below the nine-year-old Grey Way, which will be attempting his fourth win in the race. Grey Way was unplaced as a three-year-old in 1974, but was runner-up in 1975, and won in 1976, 1977, and

1 again last year. He did net : contest the 197$ race. Candyboy would not be held in much regard bn his ; latest performance — eighth • in the D.B. Galaxy Stakes — but his home track record at ; 1600 m is not at all bad. He was third behind Candyboy in this race last year, and has won the James Hazlett Stakes this season. The Fantasy, fourth in the Galaxy, comes into this race with 3.5 kg less, and along with The Twinkle will give the Dennis Brothers a lively interest.
