Finn yachting protest
Jorgen Lindhardtsen (Denmark), the disqualified winner of the first race in the Peter Stuyvesant Finn Gold Cup yachting series at Takapuna on Wednesday, unsuccessfully protested against the decision yesterday. Similarly negative rulings were given by the international jury in . reply to protests by Mark Neeleman (The Netherlands) who had been third to finish, and John . Douglas (New, Zealand),/;? ,< ■ : ’? '•'/?/.
However, John Bertrand (United States) and Jacques Rogge (Belgium) were able to produce witnesses that they had returned and begun correctly after having been over the start line prematurely. Bertrand was therefore restored to second place behind Larry Lemieux (Canada), with Richard Dodson (New Zealand) dropping to third.
