‘Sparing’ use of song
The m u c'h-maligned i “C’mon New Zealand” < cricket song will receive less i airplay than originally intended during the West i Indies-New Zealand test, < beginning at Lancaster Park i this morning. ": After consultations with] the chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council (Mr Bob Vance), Mr John Know- 1 les, chairman of the Canter- : bury Cricket Association’s ' management committee, con- t firmed that a shortened ver- <
sion will be used, in preference to the longer, original recording. “The song will be played sparingly, perhaps twice a day for about 30 seconds,” said Mr Knowles. “The sound quality'has been improved considerably.” However the caps and T-shirts, also promoting the “C’mon New Zealand” theme, will be on sale again. These proved very popular at the one-day international a fortnight ago.
