There was a very strong demand for the 216 store cattle varded (514 last week), and buvers snapped up any cattle with quality. . Some light entries m the vealer pens failed to sell at an acceptable price but these were quite acceptable in the store PC Steers were mainly $287 to $341 although the occasional pen reached $382. Heifers ranger, from $266 to $351. Sales of store cattle included.— D. S. Morris (Cheviot), 20. 18-month Angus cross steers at $316 to $331; B. Most of the 42 vealers yarded (48 last week) were very easy to sell. Demand for good quality lines was strong. There were a few passings of lighter lines, but- these were transferred to the store cattle pens and made more than expected.

Steers ranged $229 to $287, heifers from $250 to $270. and a line of bulls sold up to $445. Dairy cattle There "were only three dairy cows offered (five last week), and these sold for $285, $332, and S3BO.

Fat pigs Fat pigs had a disappointing

sale, mainly because the yarding was of mixed quality and there were too many light and medium porkers for the retail trade. Light and medium baconers had a steadier sale.

these sold at last week’s rates but many lighter lines were SlO easier than last week. Values were:—

Light porkers: S6O to $66. Medium and heavy porkers $67 to 577.

Light and medium baconers 573 to $9O. Heavy bacon: $9O to $lOO with odd sales to Sll2.

Heavy choppers: $ll5 to $135 with an exceptional sale at $lBO

Store pigs A very large yarding of store pigs had a much easier sale than last week. There was a large number of poor quality pigs and these could be quoted fullv $lO easier. Any lines of good quality realised values just below late rates.

Values were:— Small weaners: S2O to 525. Good weaners: $26 to $34. Slips and small stores: $35 to 543. Large stores: $44 to $55 with odd sales of unfinished pork to S5B.
