Three dead in Cessna crash
PA Wellington A policeman and doctor landed by helicopter at the wreck of a Cessna aircraft crash near Hastings have confirmed there were -no survivors.
The pair were taken to the crash site yesterday morning after anR.N.Z.A.F. Devon pilot saw wreckage in rugged bush country in the Ruahine Ranges, 43km west of Hastings. A team of 26 ground rescuers was later on the way to recover the bodies of the nilot and two female passengers. They were
Raymond Bull, the pilot, of New Plymouth; Kelly Johnson, aged 28, of Napier, also known as
Raewyn Hope Garland, formerly of Crane Street, Mount Maunganui; and Horania Morris, aged 26, of Napier.
The plane went missing on Saturday during a flight from New Plymouth to Napier. . Rain and heavy cloud had hampered search attempts until early yesterday morning. Senior-Sergeant M. L. Cull, of the Napier police, said the Cessna apparently exploded on impact, instantly killing the three aboard.
The badly burnt wreckage was scattered over about 100 m in bush above 1200 m.
