Rugby union elections
D e legates to the annual meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union this evening will have three candidates to choose from when they elect a treasurer to replace Mr J. K. Torrance, who is retiring after 13 years in the role.
The three nominations are Messrs I. F. Allott (High School Old Boys), P. J. Dempsey (Marist) and N. K. Fraser (Sumner). All three are
chartered accountants, with considerable experience in rugby administration within their clubs. Mr B. J. Drake will be elected unopposed to the position of president, but a ballot will be necessary to find the three vice-presi-dents. Messrs M. R. Barnett and L. J. Russell are vice-presi-dents standing again and they will be joined by
Messrs G. G. Don and W. A. Russell. There are 16 nominations for the eight executive positions and they include all the sitting members, although one vacancy will be created by the appointment of a new vice-president. An interesting nomination is Mr N. G. Gow, who is seeking to regain office after spending a year in Fiji.
