Lindhardtsen enters Finn cup fleet

Jorgen Lindhardtsen, of . Denmark, has become the eighth present or former world yachting champion to enter the world Finn Gold Cup series to be sailed in Auckland from February 18. Now 34 years of age, Lindhardtsen had a long I wait before he topped the!
points table at a world O.K. contest. He had been runnerup in 1974, and finally broke through in 1978 when he finished just one point ahead of the young New Zealander, Leith Armit. Lindhardtsen had previously gained a world title in a far less familiar class, as a member of the threeman Danish crew which triumphed at the 1973 world Soling championship. Lindhardtsen has also enjoyed a string of Nordic and Danish successes in Finns and O.K. dinghies, and he represented his country
iin the Finn section of the 1976 Olympic Games regatta at Kingston, Canada. Racing on the waters of the Hauraki Gulf will not be a new experience for the Dane. He was in the fleet (which followed Peter Lester ((New Zealand) home in the (1977 world O.K. series, Lindhardtsen having to be con(tent with twelfth placing on that occasion. The number of nations (taking part increased to 14 (with the confirmed nominations of Fabris Minski (J’u(goslavia), H. U. Stadler (Switzerland) and Alberto Larea (Argentina)
