Father Lou is Taranaki hope
Special correspondent New Plymouth Father Lou, a promising stayer, could be a lightweight chance in the Christnas Handicap, first leg of he T A 3. double at the Taranaki Jockey Club's neeting at Stratford today. Father Lou's latest efforts have been tn highweight company. He will appreciate a sizeable drop in weights and on the roomy Stratford circuit should go well. Le Caleb went a couple of, useful races during the Mana :watu meeting and with a noticeable drop in class he (must be a threat on his (home circuit. Blue Defence is a talented galloper. The hard tracks (have been troubling him a [bit, but with time to freshen the should go well. Floodlight, Tikeda, Ali, Wally. Ralraph and Smart Warrior are other chances in an event of this type. Ali, along with Kinesis King and Wally, has drawn badly and a win for any of I them would mean they had enjoyed a better run than could reasonably be ex‘pected. ; The promising colt Gioviani, might be the one to beat |in the second leg, the Wynlyard Memorial Handicap. Giovani has taken on I some tough fields at times
and performed sufficiently well to beat most tn this line-up. Hoi Pollis form has been good in recent starts. The four-year-old looks to be improving with racing Top-weight Agenda went, a much improved race at ihe Te Awamutu meeting on Saturday and is obviously a chance in this.
