$3000 for Kaniere Lodge
The Lake Kaniere Lodge Trust has been allocated $3OOO from the I.Y.C. Telethon Trust to equip the lodge, near Hokitika. The schools in Westland undertook the completion and equipping of the lodge as a special I.Y.C. project this year. The gift will enable the schools to complete necessaries at the lodge including bunks, mattresses, refrigerators, and kitchen equipment for 40 people. In its first year the lodge was used for more than 3500 bed-nights by young people from as far as the Bay of Islands.
