Late sport Sharp cycling rivalry
The respective sharp form of •Jacob Schriek, Peter Lewis and Blair Stockwell gave a threeedged rivalry to last evening’s track cycling meeting at English Schriek had too much finishing' strength in his specialist dis-! tance, a kilometre, with a battling Stockwell and Tony Duder the two to get closest to him. But as Schriek fell a victim to the uneven' pace of the 3200 m points race, so Stockwell, as he so often has. blasted clear of the field for the easiest of victories. And the sharp-finishing Lewis had his best result of the season in the “Devil take the hindmost," again from the consistent Stockwell with Schriek out the back. But the rather more regular beat in the 8000 m suited Schriek, and he won in his usual fashion, leading out and possessing reserves to burn in the straight aa Lewis and Stockwell threw out their challenges, with the juniors, Tony Strang and Mark Nichols. heading the rest.
