The Eye of the Tiger
The Eye of the Tiger. Wilbur Smith Pan Books. $2.70. Wilbur Smith is a very popular author and never more so than at Christmas when holiday reading is contemplated. He has published ten books since 1964. when the resounding success of his novel When the Lion Feeds enabled him to become a full-time writer with a verv lucrative career. This is what might loosely be termed a blood-and-cyclone story: action
follows action, viol and terror, all race through the pages. The hero, Harry Fletcher, enjoys female company to the full; whether they are blonde, brunette or redhead, Harry can accommodate them. The sex interest is there, just enough to titillate the senses and add to the enjoyment of the story, never overdone. It is the sort of tale a nautical member of my family would call a “rattling good yarn.” Sheer gutsy adventure.
