Country tales
Home Is The High Country by Mona Anderson A. H. and A. Reed. S7M Thts is a really charming book, one to please both adult and child. It consists of six very appealing stories about the small creatures, both wild and tame, for whom the High Country is home. Mona Anderson has a warm-hearted style and a clear, simple approach to animal stories. I particularly enjoyed the story of Ozwega's
transformation from ugly duckling to handsome Muscovy drake. The illustrations are in full colour and take the form of paintings by David Cowe. His artistic talents complement Mona Anderson’s ability as a story-teller. The author’s early life at Mount Algidus station has given us tales of the South Island High Country that both “townie” and “cocky” can enjoy equally well; this latest addition to the family library will not disappoint her many fans.
