Racing and trotting Timaru win likely for Kenton Lad
By
G. K. YULE
Kenton Lad. one of the more promising young pacers seen in the latter part of last season, will be a popular fancy in the Redruth Handicap, the final leg of the 1 .A.B. treble at V\ ashdyke today.
Kenton Lad made a fresh start at the Geraldine meeting on November 24 when! he did well after a poor start to finish fifth. His task was made greater by the fact that he was forced very, wide on the home turn.! Today he will be driven by! Robert Cameron. Perhaps the hardest for Kenton Lad to beat will be Winning Lass, which show’ed courage to beat all but 1 Regal Ryan and Aramlss in the December Handicap at the New Brighton meeting on Saturday Winning Lass, rad to work hard to get to the front and then fought on strongly when challenged. Wilma’s Chance has' shown little of note in her'
two starts since she won at the Kaikoura meeting at the end of October. She has drawn reasonably and should be able to maintain a handy position throughout. Dainty Judy, Bachelor’s Gold Gilnockie Tower and i Unique Princess could also i add interest to the finish, | but they will be hard pressed to beat Kenton Lad. The Smithfield Handicap, i for Cl trotters, will be the first leg of this treble. Beaui tiful Bells, Elijah and Gilt (Edge forming a likely trio. The Grantlea Handicap, for which Treasurer will be a commanding favourite, will be the middle leg. The hardest for Treasurer to beat will probably be Johnny Balbo and Foresay, but a ’bold run from Royal Tempo •will not surprise.
