Debate to prison team
PA Auckland The Paremoremo Prison debating team has won the final of a debate against an Auckland University team, for the third year in succession. The subject of the debate provided much scope for wit. pun.-, and double meanings and the capacitv audience was not disappointed. The university team supported the topic. “That the oldest profession is the most honest one." The prison team took the negative. Mr H. M. Horton, patron of the Auckland Debating Association, presented the Athenaeum Cup to the winning team. The Arthur Irvine Cup for the best speaker was won by the leader of the Paremoremo team. Jose, who also won the cup last year. In a moling tribute to the prison 'debating tutor. Mr G. N. T. Greenbank, who died recentlv. Jose said that the team' wanted to, dedicate the win to its late tutor. "Even if we had not won we would like it to have gone well fur his memory. He was a champion chap.” he said.
