Paul Command could atone at Waikato
Special correspondent, Auckland Paul Command, a shock failure at Ciaudelands last week, is likely to go much better in the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Waikato Trotting Club's meeting this evening. Paul Command faded to finish a moderate seventh in the corresponding race over the same distance on the first evening of the meeting after being a clear leader at the 700 m. His co-trainer, D. K. Gibbons, later said that the horse had been put out of work for a week after racing on the first two nights of
the A.T.C. meeting last month “He did so well since he resumed work we thought he was reads for the first night at Ciaudelands. But the way he tired suggested the lost work made a difference." he said This view was confirmed at Alexandra Park last 1 rida\ when, ovei 3200 m. Paul Command gave a sterling performance to finish third in the Franklin Ironing Cup. Alter being checked earh. Paul Command was beaten only a nose and half a length by Leader and Dawn Mist.
