The route began and ended.at the Memorial Colosseum and, followed the route ‘of the marathon ryin bv the men in the 1932 Olympics. ‘ About 50 women from seven [ •nations competed on an : overcast,'.hazy morning. The race was filmed for television as part of a syndicated show. A number of top women distance runners have recently sought to have women’s distance events approved for the Olympics. At present the longest Olympic women’s race is 1500 ‘metres.
