Dromgool pair work soundly
Special Correspondent; Cambridge [ Lavaro and Royal Ribot,! candidates for the Benson! and Hedges Handicap at Ric-| carton in their lead up rac-j ing to the New Zealand Cup, did sound work at Cambridge yesterday morning, hours before their departure for Christchurch by air. Working on good footing on the plough, Lavaro (Nolan) and Royal Ribot (Johnson) worked freely over a round (1560 m in Imin 455. They were restrained early and speeded up their last 1000 m encouragingly in Imin 3s, the 600 m in 36.55. Trainer Stuart Dromgool, who won the New Zealand Cup last year with Royal Cadenza, is thoroughly satisifed with the progress of the pair since they last raced, Lavaro with a third placing at Stratford and Royal Ribot with a win at Te Rapa. R. Vance will ride Lavaro in the Benson and Hedges Handicap and G. Blair will, be on Royal Ribot.
