Radio Avon profit 8 per cent higher in first half
The rounded unaudited net profit of Radio Avon, Ltd. Christchurch’s top private radio station, rose 8 per cent to $119,500 in the six months ended September 30, the directors announced yesterday.
Revenue, at $BlB,OOO. was 6 per cent higher than last year’s figure of $770,000. The net profit was obtained after providing $7300 more for taxation, at $97,800.
The directors have declared an interim dividend of 6.25 c a 25c share (25 per cent), payable on November 19. Last year the interim dividend was 15 per cent.
The directors say in their brief report that a major factor limiting growth in profit was the holding of advertising rates for 14 months — from July I, 1978, to September 1 of this year.
