Buses not running
Christchurch Transport Board buses will be off the roads today from soon after 9 a.m. until mid-after-noon while drivers attend the annual meeting of the branch of their union. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. but buses will start coming off the roads soon after 9 a.m. The meeting is expected to finish at 1 p.m. and buses will be in service soon after, but the Transport Board says it
will advise the public of the restarting times through the local radio stations. Bus services provided by Midland and other private companies will not be affected. Their drivers had their annual meeting on Monday morning, services being curtailed after commuters and school pupils had been brought to work and school on the earlymorning services.
