Today’s machine for the future
A sewing machine is a big investment and it is important that the model you choose should represent value for money. Simplicity, versatility and reliability are the major factors to look for in choosing a new sewing machine — features which are all represented in the Husqvarna range. lan Aldridge and Co, the Husqvarna agents on the corner of Colombo and Kilmore Streets, have seven different models of this popular Swedish machine. All the models are imported from Europe, from the economy range to the top-flignt 2000 S.L. and each machine is work-shop-checked on arrival to ensure its perfection. The Husqvarna 2000 S.L. is the latest and most exclusive model in the range. Its technical refinements make sewing simpler and more pleasurable than ever before and the range of stitches available make sewing possibilities unlimited. The machine can sew fabrics from thick knitted woollens to the finest fhiffon with equal efficiency, using colourcoded “programme” fittings which snap in to give any combination of stitch types. The most unusual feature of the new machine is its “trimotion” action -'which means that while “the needle moves from side to side, the fabric, guided by the feeder, moves back and forth. This eliminates puckering and gives maximum fabric jcontrol on any type of fabric, no matter how it might be. J The machine has a ■ unique floating shuttle and “a jam-proof hook as well as the most advanced automatic bobbin-thread and mechanisms. A low-speed gear gives jnaximum power at a pace for heavy fabrics — even leather — so Jthat the motor is never ’over-loaded. Another feature of the Husqvarna 2000 S.L. is its permanent
lubrication system which eliminates the old problems of damage because of insufficient oiling and the risk of oil marks appearing on fabrics. The Husqvarna 2000 S.L. is not designed as a beginner’s sewing machine. although there is no doubt that it makes sew-
ing easy. Priced at more than $7OO, it is intended for long, hard use and will last for many years. People who use a sewing machine consistently and who demand a professional finish on their w'ork will find the Husqvarna 20005. L. a worth while investment. The manufac-
turers have a policy of up-dating existing machines to allow new fabric types to be sewn as they reach the market. Further stitch programmes will be released to fit these machines as they are required so that a model bought today will never become obsolete.
