The manager of G.H.B. Bakeries (Mr R. L. Black) ■ said some whole grain and fancy breads increased in price by 1c a loaf, but most bread, including white bread, was up 2c a loaf.
The reason was the removal of the notional rail subsidy which raised flour by $27 a tonne, Mr Black said.
