The Greek ship Constantia, which picked him up south of Madagascar on Saturday, is now heading for Mauritius. Mr McPherson has told the Induna’s owner by radio telephone that the 18-strong crew abandoned ship w'hen it sprang a leak, and the

- lifeboats capsized in heavy > seas. With Second Officer Oxley r Oxland, he clambered aboard t a liferaft, and they were ; blown away from shipmates , clinging to the debris. i The South African Navy, which made a wide search 1 earlier this month for survi--1 vors, is unlikely to send out , its search aircraft again as ’ Mr McPherson has said he 1 is sure there are no other ; survivors.
