Six hurt
One person was admitted to Christchurch Hospital and five others were treated and discharged after a spate of road accidents in Christchurch yesterday. A cyclist was seriously ill [with severe head and leg injuries in the intensive-care unit after his cycle and a car collided in Shaw Avenue, North New Brighton, about 3.20 p.m. Fie is Steven Colenso, aged 17, of 51 Greenhaven Drive, Burwood. A Kaiapoi man was treated for minor head injuries after his car and a petrol tanker collided on the south side of the old Waimakariri Bridge about 3.05 p.m.
Four other persons were treated for minor injuries after two-car collisions at the intersections of Johns Road and Sawyers Arms Road, Barbadoes Street and Tuam Street, and Stanmore Road and Worcester Street between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
A Palmerston North woman. Mrs Colleen Hales, jaged 39. was still seriouslv i ill in the intensive-care unit ■in Christchurch Hospital after receiving, emergency treatment in the new recomnression chamber at Princess Margaret Hospital four days ago.
