Drug case remand
NZPA Darwin A New Zealand man was i remanded in custody after a I brief appearance in the Dar!win Magistrate’s Court, yesterday on charges of imi porting and possessing 'heroin. John Anton Norwood, aged 27, who gave his address as Cottesloe, Perth, was remanded without plea to November 1. He was arrested after a dawn raid by narcotics agents on a motel room in Darwin on Sunday. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr Terry Gardiner, told the Court that Norwood had been found in possession of 860 g of relatively pure No. 4 heroin. He said the Federal Narcotics Bureau was making further inquiries in Australia and overseas. The Crown opposed bail because of the serious nature of the charges and because of evidence that Norwood was a regular overseas traveller.
