$1M in grants for community buildings

extensions to existing facilities. “This fund is a positive) answer to the pressure from local authorities to run their own lotteries to raise money for community projects,” Mr Highet said. When the fund was established last year it allocated $700,000 from lottery proceeds. This year the allocation has been more than I doubled, to SI.SM. “Since the Lottery Board’s Igeneral purpose distribution I committee has allocated only about SIM from the fund, this will leave $500,000 for allocation at the committee’s next meeting in February,” Mr Highet said.

A grant of $50,000 to the > Chftstchurch City Council ’ last year was made from this year’s allocation.
