Air N.Z. advertising
Sir, — Commenting on John Kirk’s criticism of the extravagant Alan Whicker commercial for Air New Zealand, Diane B. Simmonds (September 28) says: “John Kirk knows nothing about advertising.” The lady should check her facts before making such definite statements. John Kirk was a top printing apprentice, gained advanced Trade Certificate easily, and won a scholarship to study in Australia. There he qualified to management level with very high marks indeed. As most people know printing and advertising are very closely related. You .cannot get as far in printing, in such a short time, as John Kirk did without knowing plenty about advertising. — Yours, etc.,
M. T. MOORE. October 1, 1979.
