Giving to children’s fund shows rise
Christchurch contributions to the Save the Children Fund appeal on Saturday
were up almost 8 per cent on last year. About $35,000 was collected on Saturday, compared with $32,500 last year,
said the head of the Canterbury appeal committee (Dr G. J. Anderson).

Nationally the appeal was about 10 per cent up on last year’s collection, said the New Zealand president, Mrs Valmai Foster.
