Big haul of heroin

NZPA Canberra About §500,000 worth of heroin had been seized from a New Zealander in Darwin, said the Narcotics Bureau Chief, Mr Harvey’ Bates, yesterday’. Officers found the heroin in a room of a Darwin motel early yesterday morning. Mr Bates said.

The seizure, one kilogram of pure heroin, was made after the man, aged 27, flew to Darwin from Bali on Saturday’ night.

The heroin was found concealed in a nine-volt battery. Mr Bates said the man would appear in a Darwin court this morning.
