’Little Davis Cuppers’
’ i iPA Wellington 1 The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has changed the system of selecting primary school players to • join the Little Davis Cuppers suqad. The BP Little Davis Cuppers was introduced last ’ summer. Six boys aged be- , tween 11 and 13 were selected to meet in Christ- , church for a week of coaching, playing and involvement •in the Davis Cup ties
against Japan and Australia
This summer there will be only one cup tie between New Zealand and India at Christchurch on February 810, and eight Little Davis Cuppers will be chosen.
However, instead of the administrators picking the boys, the eight will be the winners of a series of regional primary schools’ tournaments.
The N.Z.L.T.A. has asked each provincial association to hold a primary school tournament next month and
the semi-finalists will play off against boys from other associations- in the zone.
The eight zones with the associations allocated are:
Zone 1: North Shore, Northland; Zone 2: Auckland; Zone 3: Bay of Plenty; Zone 4: Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wanganui; Zone 5: Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapi Mana, Wairarapa; Zone 6: Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast; Zone 7: Canterbury, South Canterbury; Zone 8: Southland, Otago. North Otago.
