A complex trough of low pressure in the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastward on to New Zealand preteded by a strong northwesterly airstream with areas of rain and followed by colder southerlies. Forecast: Canterbury: Winds moderating and skies clearing from the south in the morning, changing to fresh cold
south-westerly winds with . showers later in the day. Marlborough. Nelson: Freshening north-westerly winds, gusty in exposed areas in Marlborough; rain becoming widespread in the morning but clearing later in the day and winds moderating. Buller, Westland: Fresh northerly winds with rain at first, changing to cooler south-westerly winds with showers and increasing fair periods spreading north during the day. Outlook: Mainly fine in all districts.
