.eight clubs in the local com[petition. He last played socket in 1941. He was selected for the New Zealand team for the I first test against Australia, in Dunedin, in 1936. and was also picked for the second test, but was unable to play. The only other sport in which he took an active part was cricket. Mr Cowe donated the : James Cowe trophy for the West Coast “Player of the Year" to the West Coast Soccer Association at the I beginning of this year.
