j PA Napier 1 Waikato showed how unlucky it was to miss promotion to the national first division rugby championship when it beat Hawkes Bay 20-15 in the final second division match of the season in Napier on Saturday. Waikato had lost its chance of promotion a week earlier when beaten by Poverty Bay, but on Saturday threw caution to the wind and ran in three tries — the only tries scored against] Hawkes Bay in eight; ehampionshp ’ matches this) season.
