N.Z. black currant output up

PA Wellington New Zealand produced about 10 per cent of the world’s black currants, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre) has told Parliament. By the end of 1977, New Zealand’s production had risen from 430 tonnes to 720 tonnes, and 650 hectares were planted in black currants this season. This was expected to rise to 1800 hectares in 1984. he said. Mr Maclntyre was replying to Mr W. R. Aus'in (Nat..
