Fine for policeman
PA Wellington By losing his career of 34 years, a police constable had imposed a far greater penalty himself than any the Court j could impose, his counsel. Mr Deacon, told the Magistrate's Court in Wellington. He was representing Car reg Reed Mcßae, aged 21. i who was appearing for sentencing before Mr N. C. Jaine. S.M., having previously pleaded guilty to two charges I of theft. Mr Deacon said Mcßae had ■ wanted to be a policeman 1 since he was a young boy and was now suffering front; great shame and remorse. At an earlier hearing the police prosecutor said McRae had taken $225 from the I Holland House barracks committee between March and September. i The Magistrate said the of- ■ I fence had affected Mcßae’s I‘‘fellow comrades in the pol- ; ice” and not members of the public. He fined Mcßae $2OO I on each charge.
