Nine degrees were conferred at a University of Canterbury council meeting this week. They were: Doctors of philosophy: P. S. Davie (zoology), M. R. Lamb (electrical engineering), F. M. Nolan (Mathematics). Master of Arts (firstclass honours): I. G. Brownlie (Russian). Master of Arts: D. M. Ramsden (sociology). Bachelor of Arts: D. J. Shine. Master of Science (with distinction): N. A. Newman (geology). Master of Science: E. Kwa( physics). Bachelor of Commerce) Ho Yit Ying.
