Quinnell new Welsh captain
NZPA London The Llanelli No. 8, Derek Quinnell, has been named as Wales' fourth captain in the last two years. The appointment of Quinnell to lead the “Wales XV”i against Rumania was widely, expected after rhe retirement of the full-back, J. P. R. Williams at the end of the last northern season. Wil-j liams in turn succeeded the flanker, Terry Cobner (who led Wales in Australia), who took over from the 1977 Lions captain. Phil Bennett. Although the team to play Rumania is named only as a “Wales XV" for which caps are not awarded, the team is regarded as virtually the strongest Wales can produce
