Corso decision
Sir, — I was disturbed when first I learned of Government action in removing donations to Corso from those on which tax rebates may be claimed. Surely the significant committed minor-
ity I represent can in no uncertain terms show the Government where we stand. As “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church,” so is this incipient persecution Corso’s opportunity for growth. The vision of a world in which there is equitable distribution of resources is surely worth any sacrifice that can be made. “It has been proved again and again that unmerited suffering is redemptive.” (I quote Martin Luther King). May those of us who are supporters show the nerve to stand up and be counted and may we show tangibly how little the rebate counts with us. May Corso in turn scur.d the rallying cry. “If the trumpet makes an uncertain sound who will prepare himself for battle?” (1. Corinthians 14:8). — Yours, etC MRS J. P JOHNSTON, Hokitika.
