This year’s Christmas stamp issue on sale soon
Three stamps foirm this year’s Christmas issue, to be released on October 3. “Madonna and Child,” a sculpture by the fifteenth century Italian master, Ghiberti, is on the ICc stamp; Christ Church in Russell, Bay of Islands, is pictured on the 25c; the 35c stamp depicts a pohutukawa tree in bloom. The Auckland artist, D.
A. Hatcher, designed the 25c stamp and completed all the graphic work. Orders for covers will be accepted at all post offices from July 26 to October 3. Covers will also be sold over the counter at all Chief Post Offices and other selected post offices from October 3 to October 12. The first day covers will
cost 77c; they were designed by Mr Hatcher. Unless stocks are exhausted earlier these
stamps will remain on sale at post offices until February 5, 1980, and at the Post Office Philatelic Bureau, Private Bag,
Wanganui mail (orders) and philatelic sales counters until June 30, 1980.
