New church council sought for N.Z.
PA Dunedin The churches in New Zealand will be asked to consider a proposal to constitute a new ecumenical council of churches. The proposal has been initiated by the Maori section of the National Council of Churches. It was presented to the council yesterday at the
second day of its three-day general meeting in Dunedin. The council agreed to send a copy of the proposed constitution to its member churches for comment. The new council aims at exemplifying its unity in Christ and promoting the concerns and programmes of the ecumenical movement among constituent members.
