Situation: A belt of high pressure covering most of New Zealand and the north-east Tasman Sea is moving slowly east. A trough over the western Tasman Sea is moving east, preceded by a cloudy northerly airstream. Forecasts: Canterbury: Moderate northerlies; fair, areas of high cloud; moderate.
Marlborough, Nelson: Light or moderate variable winds; fine, but a few areas of cloud; moderate. Buller, Westland: Light winds; rather cloudy, scattered rain developing later in South Westland; cool. Outlook: Fair in Marlborough and Nelson, cloudy with scattered rain elsewhere.
