Holiday activities

Events arranged for this week of the school holidays include: Central Library: Astrology week at the library. Today, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, science fiction films. Tomorrow, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, a talk by the police on search and rescue operations. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, making science fiction masks. Friday, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, science fiction fancy dress. Children: come as something from Star Wars. New Brighton Library: Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, stories and art and craft work, from 2.30 to 3.30 p.m. Spreydon Library: Today, story hour, 2.30 to 3.30 p.m. Tomorrow, macrame, 2.30 to 3.30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, story hour, 2.30 to 3.30 p.m.

Papanui Library: All activities from 2.30 to 3.30 p.m. daily. Today and Thursday, story time and poetry. Tomorrow, a talk from a fireman. Friday, model making. Redwood Library: Today, 11 a.m., taped story of Badjelly the Witch. Tomorrow, story reading. Friday is chess day, and at 1 p.m. a member of the Canterbury Chess Club will be at the library. Maori arts and crafts on display throughout the week. Fendalton Library: Today, story reading from 10.30 a.m. Friday is chess day, and at 1 p.m. a member of the Canterbury Chess Club will be at the library. A creepy-crawly display will be at the library throughout the week. Bishopdale Library: Today and tomorrow, story readings, 10.30 a.m. Tomorrow, Miss Yvonne from “Romper Room.” Chess day on Friday, with a member of the Canterbury Chess Club. Kite display throughout the holidays.

Sumner Library; Story telling and picture colouring from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. today and every day this
