Two new Pumas
PA Palmerston North Two new Argentinian representatives, Ernesto Ure and Roberto Lucke, were among the team picked to play Manawatu in the third match of the Pumas’ tour at Palmerston North tomorrow. The half-back, Alfredo Soares-Gache, the flanker and pack leader, Hector Silva, and the hooker, Alejandro Cubelli, have been rested for the game, while the elder lachetti brother, Marcos, was not considered for the match because of an injured left shoulder. Gabriel Travaglini, the No. 8 in the first two matches of the tour against Poverty Bay
and Auckland, will lock the scrum with Alejandro lachetti. Ure, Lucke, and the halfback, Ricardo Landajo, will have their first games of the tour against Manawatu. The team is:— Martin Sansot, Marcello Campo, Marciel Loffreda, Rafael Madero, Adolfo Cappelletti, Hugo Porta (captain), Ricardo Landajo, Roberto Lucke, Ernesto Ure, Gabriel Travaglini, Alejandro lachetti, Tomas Petersen, Hugo Nicola, Javier Perez-Cobo, Er.rique Rodriguez. Argentina is one of the best rugby-playing countries in the world for a touring
side to visit, according to the convener of the All Black selection panel, Mr Jack Gleeson. He made the remark after the Pumas’ coach, Mr Luis Gradin, his assistant, Mr Aitor Otano, and Ricardo Landajo had visited his home yesterday. The quartet discussed developments in the Argentinian game since Mr Gleeson visited the country in 1976 as coach of the All Black team.
“If I had the choice now of which rugby country I would like to visit most as a coach, that country would be Argentina,” Mr Gleeson said.
