Music finalists

A former Christchurch girl, Joy Nicol, now a third-year student at the Auckland University Conservatorium of Music, is one of three finalists in the “Auckland Star” piano concerto contest. The other finalists are Louise Webster, a house surgeon at Napier Hospital, and Mary Gow, a pianist, of Wellington. They will compete for $2200 worth of prizes tomorrow evening.

Each will perform Mozart’s piano concerto in B flat, K 456, at the Auckland Grammar School Centennial Theatre. They will be accompanied by the Auckland Youth Orchestra conducted by Michael McLellan.
